Akai Professional Releases MPK Mini Play Battery Powered Keyboard

The MPK Mini Play works as a standard Midi controller for your DAW, but also as a portable standalone keyboard, with built in speaker and battery power.

Akai Professional has announced the MPK Mini Play, a new version of its hugely popular MPK Mini keyboard that also features a built-in speaker and 128 built-in sounds.

The device has eight backlit MPC drum pads, four knobs with two banks for tweaking sounds and editing parameters in real time, and a four-way joystick for easy control, making it simple to play music instantly.

As the unit is powered by three AA batteries, operation is completely wireless meaning DJ/producers can use it whenever inspiration strikes.

Of course, it also operates (as the MPK Mini before it) as a Midi controller, connecting to your laptop via USB for use with any music production software.

The MPK Mini Play is available now, priced at US$129.
