Allen & Heath Xone:96 Mixer Video Talkthrough

Allen & Heath's Xone:96 packs a powerful digital sound card and Midi controller into a classic analogue mixer design that'll need no introduction to users of the Xone:92. Here's our first look at the unit.

We have an in-depth talkthrough of the brand-new Allen & Heath Xone:96 DJ mixer for you today, recorded here in the Digital DJ Tips studio with Alex from Allen & Heath showing us the features.

The Xone:96 can be seen as a “digital version” of the company’s iconic Xone:92, although as you’ll learn in the video, it retains the analogue core of the Xone:92, giving in effect the best of both worlds to DJs: A fully analogue mixer for using records, microphone and so on, but a powerful sound card for interfacing with DJ and production software, plus Midi for control of that software too.

We’ll have our full review of this unit coming up in good time (Alex has to take away the unit he’s brought here today sadly), but meanwhile you’ll get a really close look at the features from the video, so enjoy this “sneak peek”.

Check out how Alex weaves a hybrid DJ / live set using the mixer and a Xone:K2 controller here.

What do you think of this new mixer? Are you a Xone:92 fan who’s been waiting for a digital take on that design? Do you like the contrast between this style of mixer and the more FX-heavy club mixers out there from other brands? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
