DJ Software Trick: Using Colours To Handle Requests Like A Boss

Requests are a fact of DJing life.. so you may as well have a rock solid way of dealing with them. Here's how you can do it cleverly and easily, using the DJ software you already have right in front of you...

If you play the kind of gigs where you get lots of requests, you’ll know that keeping track of what’s been asked for, what’s been played, what hasn’t, who they’re for and why (birthday, anniversary, celebrating exam success, and so on) can be a challenge. But you can do it so much more easily with this little software trick, shared with us by our community member Jesse.

We’ve demoed it on Serato, but it works on all DJ software that lets you assign colours to tracks, which is most nowadays – just figure out the right steps in your software to do it and you’ll be able to replicate it easily enough.

Of course, requests are often the thing DJs complain about the most – but if you’ve got to deal with them, you may as well deal with them properly!

How do you deal with requests? Do you like this method? Do you use anything similar? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
