[NAMM 2016] Samson Expedition XP800 Portable PA Video Talkthrough

Samson just announced the Expedition XP800 portable PA system at the NAMM Show.

This smart, portable (it packs up to a single unit that weights around 40lb) PA system from Samson – the Expedition XP800 – is just the kind of kit we recommend DJs buy when they want speakers they can use at home as well as for small parties.

The amps produces 2 x 400 watts to power the 8″ woofers and 1″ HF drivers, and the removable eight-channel mixer includes four mic/line ins and a USB wireless port for use with Samson’s clever XPD USB digital wireless mic.

The set-up plays nicely with Samson subwoofers, and comes with two 25ft speaker cables, although you’ll have to buy stands separately (they’re available from Samson). We had a quick demo here at the NAMM Show and thought they were good, far cleverer than buying expensive monitors for your DJ practice sessions, then blowing them up at your first over-enthusiastic DJ party…

What kind of speakers do you use for your home set-up? Would you be interested in something like this that could serve double duty for bedroom practice and also for house parties? Let us know in the comments.
