Try Key Detection In Serato DJ Today

Serato announced that you can now join the public beta for the latest Serato DJ version that includes key detection and shifting.

Serato just announced that you can now take part in the Serato DJ 1.8 Public Beta. The upcoming Serato DJ version will come with key detection and key shifting baked in, along with an update to Pitch ‘n Time, and the ability to remap Serato DJ functions on supported hardware controllers.

While key detection is built into a lot of DJ software these days (eg Traktor, Virtual DJ), Serato’s just come onboard and it’ll be interesting to see how DJs take advantage of the key shifting feature, which will let you change the key of your track to match or complement another track for even more harmonic mixing possibilities.

• Sign up for the Serato DJ 1.8 Public Beta at the Serato website.

Do you use harmonic mixing in your DJ sets? If you’re a Serato user who hasn’t been mixing in key, will this update to Serato DJ get you started doing so? Let us know in the comments below.
