BPM 2015: Hercules DJControl Compact Controller

The diminutive little Hercules DJControl Compact has a basic feature set for ultra-portable DJing, but a lack of an audio interface is a definite limitation.

Ahead of its sponsorship of the BPM Show here in the UK this weekend, Hercules has announced the new Hercules DJControl Compact, which it is claiming as the most fully featured DJ controller in this sector.

Measuring just 13.4 x 3.9 inches, this controller’s compact, elongated shape makes it easy to take anywhere for practising or preparing while travelling, in hotel rooms and so on. It could also be useful as a “backup” system in the event of problems with a main controller.

It can control loops, effects, samples and cue points using its two sets of four pads, and there are dual two-band equalisers (one per deck). Apparently you can scratch using the controller’s dual 3″ jog wheels, measuring 3” (7.5 cm) in diameter. There’s no built-in audio interface, though.

It comes with DJUCED 18°, a little-known DJ software that Hercules bundles with some it its controllers, and will be available from October 2015, at a suggested retail price of $69.99.
