Pioneer DJ has today announced the Pioneer DDJ-SB2 entry-level controller for Serato DJ Intro and Serato DJ. The two-channel DDJ-SB2 boasts all the features of the original DDJ-SB, including filter fade and performance pads,but now adds trim pots, level meters, the Pad Trans beat effect and four-deck control.
The DDJ-SB2 comes bundled with Serato DJ Intro, and will be available from September 2015 at a suggested price of €259, which pitches it alongside controllers such as the Numark Mixtrack Pro 3, the Reloop Beatmix 4 and the Gemini Slate.
What about Rekordbox, then?
A big question though is whether when Pioneer releases the new version of Rekordbox (which will be “full” DJ software), controllers like this will also work with the platform.
If so, they’ll represent a truly value-for-money way to get started with the same software that us used by pros to prepare sets for Pioneer’s club gear – an enticing proposition for the new DJ.
