The RMX-500 (or Remix Station 500, we can’t quite work out which name Pioneer prefers right now) is a bit of a head-turner in that unlike the all-featured RMX-1000, this one comes in at under US$400, and still offers a whole host of exciting, great-sounding DJ effects.
Straight from the floor of NAMM 2014, here’s a talkthrough of some of this unit’s main features.
We think one area worth highlighting is those big dual-function knobs; the idea that pushing them in and turning them activates a sub-parameter for more intensity is very “Pioneer”, and from the fun the company’s staff (and show attendees) were having with this function, it seems it works well.
Anyway, take a look at the video, where this stuff makes a lot more sense than trying to write about it – enjoy!
Do you like the performance-focused workflow of this unit? Can you see yourself slotting one into your DJ set-up? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
