Maybe more popular for their PA speakers, Cerwin Vega! used NAMM 2014 to announce three new desktop powered speaker models to supplement its existing XD Powered Desktop Speaker line.
The XD4 and XD5 models are four and five inch full range systems respectively. The XD8 is a subwoofer that offers low frequency extension to the XD system, and comes with a remote for controlling the entire system’s volume. Cerwin Vega! points out that these desktop speakers have MDF wood enclosures instead of the often-used plastic.
“When setting out to create the Cerwin-Vega! XD Series, our engineers made it their goal to deliver optimal sound reproduction in a compact system,” said Gus Jursch, Director of Operations for Gibson Pro Audio.
“Since versatility is the ultimate sign of a great desktop speaker, our designers also worked to ensure that the entire XD Series fully integrates with existing desktop equipment such as audio interfaces, audio mixers or DJ gear.”
