It’s official: Numark’s Mixtrack Pro II, which was announced at the NAMM Show 2013 yesterday, is from the off to be fully supported by Serato’s paid-for Serato DJ software. (Update: Read our full Numark Mixtrack Pro 2 review).
That means buyers of the Mixtrack Pro II, which is supplied with Serato DJ Intro, can buy the full version of the software from Serato’s website and as of today, it will work with the controller.
It seems the best way currently to experience Serato DJ software (unless you can afford the excellent Pioneer DDJ-SX, of course) is to buy a new controller that comes with Serato DJ Intro, and then to upgrade. The company is definitely prioritising new and recent Serato DJ Intro controllers over ITCH-enabled model, as not a single ITCH controller has been upgraded to Serato DJ yet.
However, it is always worth adding up the price of the software and the price of the controller before making a purchase decision; in this case, the combined price would be US$428 (US$299 for the Mixtrack Pro II and US$129 for Serato DJ). For US$50 more, you could have the same deal but with the all-metal Denon MC2000 controller, and for US$70 more, a Traktor Kontrol S2 with Traktor Pro 2.
