Pioneer RMX-1000 Launches In Glossy Pearl White

Pioneer’s take on what a modern DJ effects unit should be like – the RMX-1000, now in white.

Clearly designed to match its white edition mixers, Pioneer has announced that its RMX-1000 Remix Station is now also available in, erm, white, as the RMX-1000-W.

The unit, first launched in June 2012, brings high-quality and powerful effects to the DJ booth, operating via the send/return loop from pro DJ mixers, and is designed primarily to be mounted immediately above a standard-size DJ mixer for “always there” effects access.

It is more than a simple hardware solution though, and continues the Pioneer thinking of “prepare on laptop, perform on hardware”; you can customise it using your computer and Remixbox software, and carry your personal settings on an SD card. That means touring DJs can specify a RMX-1000 on their rider, only having to bring their effects settings with them on a tiny card, allowing for a more unique performance with less gear to hulk around.

As well as an isolator and isloator FX, scene FX, four sample banks and an X-pad for expressive performance, the RMX-1000 allows FX chaining, and can tie to your music via an auto BPM engine. Finally, it can be used as a dedicated controller for VST/AU/RTAS plug-ins.

We’ve got a review of this unit scheduled for the website soon.

Have you had your eye on this, and will the white version swing you into action? Do you agree with the need for pro hardware effects in the DJ booth, or do you think it’s the kind of thing best done in DJ software nowadays? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
