Over To You: I Want To Broadcast Mixes On Skype

How can our reader mix DJ sources and a microphone and broadcast the lot of Skype?

Reader Theophilus Simpson writes: “I plan to do live mixshows and music collaborations via Skype. I plan to use Virtual DJ for the mixshows and Logic for music collaborations. The microphone I use is a USB dynamic model. I have a problem at the moment where I would like to be able to use the microphone and any of the music software at the same time, but Skype will only allow me to use one or the other. The only way I can get around this problem is to keep the preference window open and switch back and forth from microphone to music software. How can I combat this problem?”

Digital DJ Tips says:

Firstly, it’s not going to be completely straightforward. But you could look to using software such as Jack to attempt to route different sources into Skype.

I’ve never tried it, though, so this is definitely one for “over to you”.

So – over to you! How can Theophilus route multiple audio sources including a USB microphone into Skype? If you’ve done this or know how to do it, I’d love you to share your advice in the comments.
