Over To You: How Do I Find Song Titles From Other DJs’ Sets?

Shazam can be a godsend for discovering music, but it doesn’t have everything on its database.

Reader Darren Haken writes with a music discovery question: “What tools do people use to find songs from live sets or indeed how do they track music down beyond the scope of the ‘Beatport Top 100’? I’m not after ‘naughty’ methods of getting music but just more how people dig a bit deeper. I tend to try and play a lot of deep house music and it’s a more underground genre. So for example I am a huge fan of Crosstown Rebels label but it is very difficult to ID tracks off sets by DJs on the label. any ideas?”

Digital DJ Tips says:

Shazam is a good way of identifying music when you don’t know the title of it. Also, you can look on the Tracklistings website for DJ set lists, or indeed look on the original broadcaster’s website to see if they’ve posted it.

However, I am sure the readers have other ideas, so over to you, readers!

Can you help Darren with clever ways to identify music hear in DJ sets? What’s your preferred method for tracking down that elusive tune you can hum but not name? Please let Darren know in the comments!
